MARRIAGE PREPARATION EXPECTATION

Guidelines for Couples Being Married at Ridgewood Church.

Based on the best available research on marriage and family life, we have established the following guidelines for couples wishing to be married at Ridgewood Church. We want your marriage to get off to the best possible start and your relationship to become all that God wishes for you as husband and wife.

1. Confirm calendar date with the pastor participating in your wedding. (It is church policy that any wedding at Ridgewood Church will have a staff pastor participating in the ceremony).

2. Contact the wedding coordinator and complete the wedding application.

3. Contact the participating pastor to begin pre-marital preparation.

4. Purchase:

    Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts, by Parrott & Parrott, Zondervan;
    (for use with Marriage Mentors)

    Money Before Marriage, by Larry Burkett, Moody
    (for use with Marriage Mentor Financial Counselor)

    Getting Your Sex Life Off To A Great Start, by Penner & Penner, Word
    (to be read by couple)

5. Complete the marriage inventory, PREPARE, and continue for 4 -6 follow-up sessions.

6. Concurrently with pastoral sessions, meet with Marriage Mentors (at least 2 times before the wedding).
