Study Light is one of the best sites on the internet for Bible study. You can find a complete copy of the Standard Encyclopedia of the Bible which is one of the best encyclopedias of the Bible ever published. This site also contains a large collection of Bible Commentaries which share the opinions of Bible scholars on passages in the Bible; commentaries are similar to the type of information you might find in the footnotes in a Bible (remember that these are informed opinions and therefore will differ from commentary to commentary and may or may not contain the best explanation of a passage).
